The SmoothShift system provides smooth direction shift changes resulting in reduced transmission shift shock, protecting the drivetrain from full-speed shifts in direction,
plus reduced tire spin for increased tire life. The SmoothShift system also prevents shifting from Neutral to Forward or Reverse at high engine RPM.
The SmoothShift system helps protect the transmission and drivetrain from harsh full speed direction changes by only allowing the transmission to shift directions once three conditions are met:
1. The truck has reached a slower speed
2. The engine RPM's have decreased
3. The accelerator pedal is released
The frames are designed for maximum rigidity and durability while maintaining
a lower center of gravity in order to keep a higher residual capacity for the truck.
During the design process, the frames are analyzed using FEA software (Finite Element Analysis)
and go through several reinforcement iterations to eliminate stress points under full load
conditions.
Standard on all models, this feature positions the tank closer to the operator to make it easier to unload or change the LP tank.
Alarm will sound if LPG bracket is not returned to the locked position.
An assembly hinge is included to assist the operator in swinging out the LP tank bracket as well as returning it to a secure position.
There are a number of standard features that are built into the truck that limit noise and vibration. This helps to keep the operator comfortable, thus increasing productivity.
- Rubber mounted key components isolate noise and vibration transfer to the steel frame
- Fully insulated steel engine hood limits the amount of noise and vibration directly under the operator's compartment
- Helical transmission gears reduce drivetrain noise
- Closed wheel wells reduce noise from the engine
- Hydraulic accumulator in the transmission control valve promotes smooth shifts and direction changes up to 2.5 mph, reducing shocks to the powertrain
The Engine Protection System (EPS) is controlled by the Engine Control Module. This invaluable feature immediately notifies the operator of any issues or failures in the engine.
Once notified, the operator can alert the maintenance crews to diagnose and repair the truck which helps reduce the chance of further damage by continued usage.
This early alert and notification system can help avoid expensive and lengthy repairs resulting in less downtime and reduced cost of ownership.
The ease of access to all major components makes daily checks more efficient and less time consuming. A few design features that improve the ease of maintenance on these trucks are:
- The engine cover opens wide and allows access to check fluid levels and carry out the visual inspections needed before the daily shift.
- A single gas-assisted spring permits the engine cover to be raised with minimal effort and keeps it in a raised position.
- NO TOOLS REQUIRED to remove the floor plate and the steel side covers. They can be quickly and easily removed and replaced, if needed.
- The brake master cylinder reservoir is made of translucent molded plastic which makes it possible to verify fluid levels with a quick visual check.
- Fuses that are easily accessible. Inside the fuse box, there is also a tool to remove them as well as a labeled guide with an explanation of the function of each fuse.
Extended service intervals mean this truck will have less down time and less money spent on the planned maintenance of the truck over its lifetime.
This package was designed to help increase operator awareness by combining the following options:
- Rear View Mirror Kit - Mirrors mounted to the front overhead guard leg to supplement existing rearward visibility
- Rear Work Light - Mounted to the rear overhead guard leg to increase illumination behind the truck in low light applications
The trucks are equipped with LED lights as standard equipment. The LED lights produce a bright light while emitting very little heat.
Having no filaments, these lights also last longer than the traditional incandescent bulbs and are not affected by vibration.
The amber strobe can be mounted above or below the overhead guard based on customer preference or need. The strobe light is activated once the key switch is turned on and will flash until the key is switched off again. This bright visual signal is recommended in low light, high ambient noise levels or high pedestrian and vehicle traffic applications.
The Blue spotlights are designed to warn pedestrians of the truck's presence by projecting a blue spotlight on the ground either in front or behind the truck depending on the direction of travel.
The spotlights are mounted on the overhead guard, the forward-facing option shines through the mast and the rearward facing option shines to the ground behind the counterweight.
The lights are always shining in front of or behind the truck, notifying pedestrians of its presence.
